Our Chelmsford client is looking to recruit an experienced Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer, on a full-time permanent basis.
Overview of Role:
-To deliver further improvements in Quality as a core part of the Operational Excellence Programme.
-Through a proactive approach to right first time quality and working closely with procurement, promote a major improvement for incoming parts from suppliers to support the drive to deliver exceptional quality standards and contribute towards a significant reduction in overall manufacturing costs.
Supplier Quality Assurance
-Conduct periodic supplier audits to Contractual and Capability requirements, using ISO:9001, relevant legislation and business requirements as appropriate.
-Control of the Quality strategy for selected commodities and projects, supporting the holistic Procurement sourcing strategy.
-Audit supplier quality capabilities in support of the Procurement supplier selection process.
-Act as a point of contact for internally identified product quality issues which need supplier redress. Record failures negatively impacting supplier quality and lead corrective action through to completion, liaising with the Business (Procurement, Operations, Engineering, BU and Project Teams).
-Take immediate containment action for non-conforming product from suppliers and then follow a rigorous problem solving process, such as 8D or similar methodology, to achieve complete preventative solutions with Supplier in order to prevent re-occurrence.
-Use remote diagnostic tooling to assess supplier quality where appropriate.
-Input quality aspects of Procurement led supplier selection process for NPI/project activity.
-Resolve supplier quality issues threatening delivery of critical path project milestones, in close liaison with Procurement.
Supplier performance management
-Input accurate, supplier specific quality metrics to the Supplier Scorecard and take part in Supplier review meetings.
-Develop and maintain Supplier Quality KPIs.
-Conduct quality audits, schedule driven by material criticality and supplier performance and agreed with Procurement.
-Undertake internal audits where required.
-Contribute to the development of the Quality function as directed by VP of Quality.
-QMS Audit Experience
-Proven track record in Supplier Quality Assurance
-Experience in Engineering, Quality & Manufacturing
-Understanding engineering drawings and specifications
-Strong communication skills and ability to influence others
-Knowledge of structured problem solving techniques, such as 8D
-Good knowledge of MS Word and Excel
-Capable of obtaining SC (Security Clearance)
-Qualified Lead Auditor AS9100, ISO9001, ISO14001, BS EN 18001
-Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree or equivalent qualification
-Commodity focused experience (Metal, Electronic, Electrical, Ceramic, Mouldings)
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Thursday 08:30-17:00 Friday 08:30-16:30 (1 hour lunch)
Location: Chelmsford (the role will involve UK and overseas travel)
